1. Anant Chaudas



Held in the month of September, Anant Chaudas is one of the popular festival of Indore celebrated to worship Lord Ganesha. The main attraction of the festival is the large procession conducted at night by carrying huge idols of Lord Ganesha and they are immersed in water. Large number of people attend this festival with great fervor.

2. Annapurna Temple


Annapurna Temple, one of the oldest temple in the city is dedicated to the Goddess of nourishment, Devi Annapurna. Built in the Indo-Aryan and Dravidians architectural style, this 9th century magnificent 100 feet high temple resembles the famous Madhura Meenakshi Temple. The most remarkable thing about this temple is that it has no mandaps or pillared halls. The main gate of the temple is decorated with four life-size elephants made of plaster of Paris; the exterior wall is decorated with colorful images from mythological stories and idols of gods and goddesses and the inner sanctum is adorned with the images of Shiva, Kal Bhairav and Hanuman. Other attractions of the temple is the pravachan hall situated near Dashahara Maidan and the fourteen and half feet high idol of Lord Kashi Vishwanath in Padmasanath position.

3.Bada Ganpati Temple


Built in the year 1875, during the reign of Rani Ahilya Bai Holkar, Khajrana is famous for housing the largest Ganapati statue in the world. From crown to foot the deity measures eight meters in length. Made up of a weird mix of limestone, jaggery, bricks, mud from the stables of elephants and horses, besides holy soil and water from the major pilgrim places and the deity's image generate a significant impact on the devotee. Deity's frame is made of precious metals, and the deity looks amazingly wonderful.
The popular belief is that Bada Ganapati is the hinderer of all obstacles so devotees render highest regard to this idol.The gigantic statue of Ganapati is a fascinating attraction of this pilgrim center and large folks frequents here to have a darshan of this gorgeous deity.

4. Bijasen Tekri


Bijasen Tekri is an ideal picnic spot surrounded by gardens and a small lake. It offers a breathtaking view of the city and a magnificent view of the sunset. This tekri (hillock) has a temple dedicated to Bijasen Mata which was built in the year 1920. The fair, held here during the nine-day long Navratri festival, attracts large crowd. There were a guest house of the Holkars at the top of the hill which has been converted into Border Security Arms Museum.
